Werner PaddlesAlaska Kayak Supply was a Werner Dealer many years ago, but moved away from them to a smaller paddle builder for a few years when Werner's product line stagnated a bit in the mid 90s. We recently came back into the fold so the speak since Werner has made some remarkable advances in their paddle design and construction. I gotta tell you that if you're looking for a quality mid to high end paddle, Werner is definitely the way to go right now. While they used to make paddles for low angle paddle strokes only, they've since expanded their line with a number of designs built specifically for high angle paddle strokes (typical of paddlers coming from a whitewater paddling background).
In addition to improved construction techniques, Werner also has a unique ferrule design that allows you to make infinite feather angle adjustments to your paddle so that you no longer have to worry about buying a paddle with the perfect feather angle without necessarily knowing what that even is! Whats more, Werner is also leading the pack in production of a high quality bent shaft paddles that optimize your paddle stroke efficiency and comfort with an ergonomically bent shaft. Could be argued that the only gear decision more important to your paddle experience enjoyment than what boat you buy, is what paddle you use!
Buy one of Werner's Performance Carbon Bent Shaft paddles and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven! They're that nice.
At present we're stocking:

 Aquabound Paddles |
Joe Matuska has been building Aquabound paddles for many years now, and he's both pioneered and perfected the injection molding blade construction techniques.
The result is a line of extremely durable quality paddles offered at a very reasonable prices.
We used Joe's paddles almost exclusively in our guiding operations for years because they're more durable than fiberglass blades and stand up better for the rigors of guided trips and rental kayaks etc. I highly recommend buying an Aquabound paddle if:
A. you're a person whose extremely rough on their gear or frequently loan your gear to novice paddlers B. you spend a lot of time thrashing the the surf zone on rocky beaches C. you're a whitewater boater who paddles steep or bony creeks where you're constantly bouncing your paddle off rocks etc. D. price is a major deterrent to getting a fiberglass paddle, or you want a less expensive spare to keep on your kayak in case of an emergency.
I use an Aquabound paddle for my whitewater boating and don't plan to ever go back to glass blades since I'm a bit of a thrasher. My Aquabound whitewater/surf paddle has always treated me very well! |
